Comotion 2026
Comotion is the largest student-led motion media conference in the world. I had the honor of working on a sound team of 5 to develop the score and soundscape for the title sequence of the event.
Process
The title sequence was pitched to the sound team as a showcase of the intersection between human senses and technology. This gave me the idea to go with a hybrid score that leaned on a combination of acoustic instruments and synthesizers. Shortly after the first meeting I came up with these two demos.
The first demo in particular seemed to strike a chord and we used its melodic and harmonic ideas as a foundation to build the rest of the score with. From then on, I worked closely with co-composer Tara Magill who added ambience and many of the sound design elements you hear in the sequence.
It was then just a process of revising and fine-tuning all of the elements until we fit the picture in the way that the directors were envisioning.
